Five Themes
From the unbelievable to the profoundly ordinary, we’re looking for the story of your life. But your life is complicated right? So we thought up five themes to break it down.
Your Spot
What’s your scene? Maybe it’s a local bar, coffee shop, boutique, beer garden, furnished basement, too-small closet or semi-vacant cow pasture. But it’s yours. Show us where you’re at.
Sounds Like…
Show us your soundtrack: Classic rock, death metal, folk ballads, art-punk, nu-rave, old-school or soft rock. Maybe it’s the sounds of silence or the traffic outside your window. We want to see the sounds. What do you hear when you first wake up? While you’re getting dressed? Going out? How about when you finally call it a night?
Me, Myself and I
What makes you, you? Show your face. Make an appearance. Show us how you wear it, where, and with what. You get the idea. This should be a portrait of some sort but how you interpret “portrait” is totally up to you.
Best Friends
Show some love for those that make it all worthwhile – the people, the pets and the personal treasures that accompany your daily adventures. Introduce us to your confidantes, intimates, and comrades – your boys, your girls, or the people you run with.
It’s the Little Things
Buttons, key chains, inside jokes, midnight snacks, guitar picks, pointed shoes, and happy accidents – with a Lomographic camera even the smallest moments can become monumental. We want details!
Schedule
The contest will run in 2007 from August 6th through August 31st – with the grand winner announced on September 7th. Each of the four weeks will be judged independently, and work with the following dates:
- Week 1: Monday, August 6th until Sunday, August 12th
- Week 2: Monday, August 13th until Sunday, August 19th
- Week 3: Monday, August 20th until Sunday, August 26th
- Week 4: Monday, August 27th until Friday, August 31th
Each week begins on Monday at midnight (EDT, New York) and ends the following Sunday at midnight.
Image Guidelines
At least one side (be it the width or height) of your image files must be 1800 pixels or more in length and the file size must not exceed 3MB. Please do not merely resize and enlarge your shots, as we’ll notice the drop in quality and will have no choice but to kick them to the curb. Please keep it as real as possible, too – a little cropping and brightening is okay, but leave out the crazy Photoshop tricks. Some examples:
- An image with the size 1800x1200 pixels works (as one side is at least 1800 pixels long)
- An image with the size 2000x2000 pixels works (as both sides are at least 1800 pixels long)
- An image with the size 1600x1200 pixels does not work (as both sides are smaller than the minimum requirement of 1800 pixels)
A maximum of five images can be submitted to each theme every week. After the week closes, and the weekly prizes are awarded, you can submit five more images to each theme.
Camera Guidelines
For this competition, your images must have been shot with one of the following Lomographic cameras. However, if you shot the roll in one camera and then multiple exposed it in another, we ain’t mad at ya. Go ahead and upload that (and we really hope that it worked out!)
Actionsampler, Actionsampler Flash, Colorsplash camera, Fisheye, Fisheye 2, Holga, Horizon Kompakt, Horizon Perfekt, Lomo LC-A, Lomo LC-A+, Lomolitos, Oktomat, Pop 9, Smena and Supersampler
